Franklyn Oliver (b. 1999) is a Mancunian composer, theatre maker, and musicologist based in London. His work is often interdisciplinary, combining music, dance, sculpture, and theatre to build surreal, politically engaged environments.

He has worked with ensembles including Fretwork Viol Consort, Shapeshifter Ensemble, Standard Issue, and CoMA. Recent projects have included a 20-minute music-theatre piece, Banishing the Boggart of Clayton Hall, developed with CoMA Sussex. He frequently collaborates with the choreographer, performer, and juggler Laurence Brown.

As a musicologist, Franklyn's research specialises in the inherent political ideology of instrumentation, informed by the Nueva Canción and Anatolian Rock songwriting traditions. He has presented lectures at City University New York and New York University on this topic as part of Mise_En Music Festival 2024.

Franklyn is a graduate of Trinity Laban Conservatoire and King's College London and has studied with Sir George Benjamin, Paul Newland, Deirdre Gribbin, and Laura Jurd amongst others.
